Global CONNECT

Peter Thomas is Director of International Partnerships and Director of Operations for Global CONNECT at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Global CONNECT is a network of technology commercialization/business accelerator organizations around the world. Many of these organizations were inspired by CONNECT in San Diego, which was founded by UCSD in 1985, and spun off as an independent entity in 2005.

The mission of Global CONNECT is to assist members’ companies and entrepreneurs to access trusted and qualified resources in other parts of the world, and to benchmark best practices in technology commercialization. Mr. Thomas was born and raised in the UK, and has lived in the US since 1978. His first career was in English language teaching and language program administration. He taught in Cameroon and Greece, and ran large intensive English language programs in New York City and at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).

He was President of the American Association of Intensive English Programs immediately prior to joining Global CONNECT. Mr. Thomas has a B.A. from Oxford University, and an M.A. from Columbia University.
